because it means I can cry without people fussing. My son died 7th August 98. It was his

until we are together again. Your mommy misses you so very much baby girl. I wish to hold
you, smell you, feel you, hear you...have you back once again. I can not believe it has
been a year...so very long...I ache for you my love. I hope you are okay...that you still
need your mommy and will still be my little baby girl when we are reunited. I watched you
yesterday, looking at your videos. You were so very beautiful. I look at your pictures of
the morning before you left us...how could you die that day. You were perfect, beautiful.
Now you watch over me and take care of me. That was my job...to take care of you. I am so
very sorry love. Someday I will make it up to you. Mommy will keep fighting to end
SIDS..to raise awareness...to let everyone know about Back to Sleep. You'll see, I won't
give up...not until we are together again. I never want another mommy to feel this
horrible pain. SIDS has to end!! Please know that I love you...everday...in every way.

a set of twins. The other twin remained on a monitor until he was 9 months. All other
children were placed on monitors at birth. Had no problems with my middle child. Youngest
child had episodes on a regular basis. It's been a rough 14 years. |

Comments: I lost my God Child a year ago today to SIDS, by neglect. I think all
those who are responsible for getting out the word of the Back To Sleep Campaign are
wonderful. You know I'm sure all of you have felt the loss, felt the helplessness of
losing somebody you loved and cared for, it's just so sad when it is an infant - they
haven't even had a chance to begin there life. It is left in our hands and that is why
everybody should spread the word. Everybody should be responsible for making sure all
hospitals, doctors offices, day care providers and even grandparents know about "Back
to Sleep". My God Childs mother has been on a campaign since she lost her Little
Angel and made a big difference. She has spoken to every body she can think of and is
still doing work. Getting out the word. She and another SIDS mother recently got the local
hospitals to put the "Back To Sleep" logo on the t-shirts that the newborns are
sent home in. I think that is wonderful. Again it is such a loss and my little godchild I
know is up in Heaven in a better place, but that is hard to believe when you don't have
them here to love on, to hold, to watch take their first bite of real food and so on. My
heart goes out to each and every one of you for your loss. There is no greater loss, than
that of a child. |

Comments: My Son, "Quinn" Reaves-Margolies, would have been turning four
in January. It is hard to imagine what my life would be like if he was still alive. I know
that he is in a better place--receiving "hands-ons" experience from our
Creator--not worrying about what tomorrow could and can bring like I am. I'm finding out
very quickly that life gives you many trials and tribulations but it is what we make of
the situation and the final outcome, hopefully positively rather than negatively, is what
matters the most. In this world, hopefully people will realize that it is not how much
money you make, not what you can buy--materialistically, but it is all about what kind of
an impact you make for yourself and with and on other people. To leave wonderful memories
behind and remember not to take anything for granted for it can be taken away in an
instant. Material things: You can replace. A person: You can't. I realize that in my life,
I learn to appreciate--My Faith, Family, Friends, and My Life. I learned young in life
about Death, and remembering that every death and their circumstances are different (My
Grandparents vs. My Father vs. My Son). I keep the living (and the deaths) in my prayers
and in my heart--for anyone to learn the true value of friendship and realizing it, that
is truly a blessing in itself. If you need someone to talk to, please e-mail me. I'm a
great listener as well as a talker. ;-) Thanks, Love, Peace and God Bless You All!!!!
Aliza (Now 26 Yrs., who lost her Son and only child to SIDS in April 1995) P.S. to the

Comments: My beautiful niece Jami Elizabeth was taken from us so suddenly at ten
weeks old in Oct. 1989. The only explanation that was given was SIDS. Those letters have
come to haunt our family day in and day out since. Is there any way to explain to her
brother and sister born since and cousins...no, just that she was beautiful and sweet for
what little time we had to spend with her. My concern has always been that she had her DPT
shots within 24 hours of her death, the doctors tell us that this could NOT have been the
problem, but the mystery still remains. In loving memory of Jami Elizabeth......you are in
my thoughts daily and we will never forget the way you smiled, the way you cried, the way
your deep blue eyes still remain in the memories of minds. Loving your forever and
always....Aunt Kel Kel...... |

sure because they have not recieved the death certificate and it has been 2 months. He was

Comments: This is a very nice web page. I lost my little Samantha Ann on 12/11/94.
I was in the middle on an E.M.T. class when this happened. Shortly after that we had our
training and I could not sit through the class. My little girl was only 8 weeks old when
my wife and I lost her. We have since had a son and he is doing very well. He just turned
3 in November. I just hope that anybody who loses a child this way will try to pull
stregth from their partner instead of pulling away. After almost 4 years my wife and I are
going through a divorce because she has not gone on with her life. She always blamed her
self for the death of our little Sammi. Now its almost like she has turned the blame to
me,for this I feel sorry for her. Because I love her and with help we can over come this
horrable thing. |

Comments: My heart goes out to all of the parents and other family members who have
lost a precious baby to this disease. My daughter passed away on May 13, 1996 without any
warning. It is something that stays with you and changes what and who you are. The reality
is something you are required to live with. My thoughts and Prayers, C.Evans |

Comments: I was thinking about doing a research project on this topic and found
this page. Let me just say I know how you all feel. I lost my baby brother to SIDS when I
was 8 years old. It was devastating to my family and to me, mostly because he died from
essentially nothing. We just laid him down for a nap as a healthy squealing baby boy, and
an hour later he was gone. I can still remember the events of that day like it happened
this morning. But I know that that experience has made me who I am today. And I know God
took him for a reason. I must admit though that I questioned God and wondered how it all
could've happened to me, my older brother, and my parents. I still wonder that when I see
a boy today that would be his age and think how much I wish he were still here. I want all
of you to know that I can listen to you if you need someone. |

Comments: I just wanted to let everyone know that my thoughts are with you and my
heart goes out to all of the "new" and "old" losses. I pray for the
day they find a reason for this horrible thing called "SIDS". No parent should
have to go through this. We lost out 3rd daughter to SIDS July 15, 1997. She was 7 weeks
old. We found out we were pregnant about 2 months after losing her and now have another
beautiful baby girl name Ciarra who is 8 months old. It has been a great joy but many
fears also. We also just found out we are having another surprise baby. I dont seem to be
quite as scared with this pregnancy. I guess time does help some but Alauna will always be
missed and can never be replaced. I would love to hear from anyone who has questions about
having subsequent children or who have had subsequent children. God Bless all of you and
your precious little angels. My email address is pamandted@aol.com |

Comments: Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. I met a gentleman a few
years ago who had lost a child to SIDS, and he commented to me that there had not always
been a network of volunteers to provide grief support, information, etc. Thanks to this
website and many volunteers nationwide, there will be place to go for support for anyone
dealing with this tragedy. |

Comments: I Lost my sixth child to sids in January 1972 and then twenty years later
lost my grandson to sids. I look at a little baby and can picture them being dead. I had a
very difficult time going on after my baby died. My husband was transferred with his job
and left me home after our daughter died. I had no one to talk to. Everyone would be
uncomptfortable whenever I would mention my child. My other children were 11, 10, 8. 6,
and 2 and they never talked about her or her death either. They were able to express their
feelings when our daughter lost her son. I think to be able to talk with someone who has
lost a child is very helpful. |
