uncontrollably....at first I didn't understand him.....then when he quieted down a bit he
told that his 4 month old Grandson had died from SIDS. What absolute shock and hurt. My
Niece/Godaughter is a quiet girl and I so fear she won't be able to let the hurt out. I
had a friend who 30 years ago lost two children, a few years apart, to SIDS and I am so
dismayed to find there hasn't really been a whole lot of progress in finding the casue for

web site to be very informative. One of my best friends' daughter -Casidy Ann- died of

Comments: I think the sids foundation is wonderful. I lost a
daughter in 1972 to sids and there wasn't alot of info out at that time so I just had to
try to deal with it and try to understand. I have also lost another daughter in a car
accident at the age of 22 so some of the grieving information is very helpful. I don't
think that adding more presure to the family at that terrible time is right . They already
feel guilty or that maybe they did something wrong. If they had suggested that Christina's
death was my fault it would have completely destroyed me. |

Charles Lane Harkness. The James was for my father, Charles being a family name, and Lane

Comments: My daughter, Katheryn Lynn, was born on my birthday, May 23,
1997. It was the best birthday gift I could ask for. She died of SIDS on August 15, 1997.
She was only with us 85 days. I'm not sure how I will face another birthday now. I wish
someone could tell me why she died. I'm having a hard time dealing with no other
explanation than that she "forgot" to breathe. She did not fit the profile of a
SIDS baby at all. I love her and miss her very much. And as much as I dread my birthday,
it is the strongest bond I still have with her. |

brother to sids.I heard about this web sight through my cousin, who has already signed
your guestbook.I felt like I had to sign it myself.My little brother meant the world to
me. He was born a twin (the littler one of the two.)My mom has 12 kids including the twins
and we are a very close nit family, and my whole family was excited about them being home.
i personaly can remember it like it was yesterday the day they came home I remember the
nights me and my mom stayed up trying to get the little cuties to eat.I still remember
coming home from school and going straight into there room. Now I'm only fifteen and I
have already experience the most pain a teenager could ever go through I'll never forget
the morning I woke to my mom screaming call 911,and of course I had to be the one to do

Comments: I have a beautiful little boy, 10 weeks old today.
I am so terrified of SIDS. He is perfectly healthy and from all the info I have found, he
is at a lower risk, as he was not premature, with breathing problems, has never been
resusitated. I am just afraid, I have read through some of the messages and am so sad for
those that have to live with that pain. I am sorry for those that have to be so strong,
and at the same time am thankful I am not in that position. Brenden is at the prime target
age of 2 to 4 months and I worry each time he lays down for a nap. Do you ever stop
worrying? |

Comments: God chose to take our second grandson home
11-1-96. Jacob was only 44 days old. What trauma and a feeling of helplessness that I
never knew. Almost 15 months has passed and we still grieve. It's very hard for
grandparents too. You feel so bad not being able to help your child and their spouse. Our
son and daughter in law have become very active in a SIDS support group. I think the
hardest thing is to not be able to prevent such a tragedy. I know I would feel better if
there were a known cause. You have no control or way of prevention in this terrible
situation. My faith in God is what sustained me. It didn't make Jacob's death any easier
to accept but I do feel that in time we will be able to heal. Jacob is buried in a
childrens section of a cemetery. With each visit unfortunately there are new graves. In
just 15 months 8 little angels have been laid to rest in just this one cemetery. That's
very scarry to see. Let's all pray for a cure so others do not have to experience the loss
of a child and grandchild. |

Comments: Our story is a lil different from most SIDS
cases, our Lil Alex was 16 months old when he passed away in his sleep He was our life,
the most perfect little boy a mom and dad could ever ask for. He died on Dec.11/97, we
were so looking forward to this Christmas, only 4 days before we went and got our
Christmas tree, he was so excited by the ornaments and lights. My Husband and I both let
out a sigh of relief after his 1st Birthday, we though we no longer had to worry about

19, 1996. I was very upset when Paul Harvey stated that a researcher had discovered that
over 1/3 of all SIDS deaths were really due to the baby being suffocated by their parent.
What do you know about this? I know from my reading and personal experience that the
biggest fear with many parents is that they may have accidentally suffocated. |
