Comments: Hi! My name is Mindee and my son, Cameron, was born still January 18,
1995 at 39 weeks gestation. As we are nearing the anniversary date, I find myself coming
online more and more, wanting to meet others and hear or read their stories. I love to
talk about my son and share my experoience of losing a baby and subsequently becoming
pregnant again soon after, and delivering a healthy baby. (Cody was born healthy January
9, 1996) I am sorry for us all, that we have lost the most precious things in our life. I
would love to hear from anyone who just wants to make a new friend and talk about our
angels. Tears, Mindee e-mail:katelyn@cyberhighway.net |

Comments: Anchorage, Alaska December 1, 1996 I was rushed to the hospital by the
advice of a physician in my doctor's group. I was going in for a D & C. This would
have been my fifth child. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving we had found out that I was
indeed pregnant, just that our baby had not formed like it should have. I have so much to
be thankful for and I am everyday, it is still hard for me to not sit and wonder about the
child that could have been. My husband-to-be has been terrific through all of this and for
that I am very appreciative. We are trying once again, but both of us are still silent in
some way. I hadn't realized this happens to so many people. People offer support, thank
you, but the real support, to me, comes from those who have been through similiar
situations. If so, I would like to hear from you. |

"My Little Man". Just starting to really deal with the grieving process now.
Father having a hard time dealing with this also but not willing to open up. Some facts
about they terrible day: was at daycare providers house, she fed him at approx. 3:00 p.m.
and then laid him down for nap. Checked on him every 10-20 min and he was fine. Then last
time she went in to get him up and play with him and found him clammy and light purple.
Tried to give him CPR, then ambulance got there and took over. Got to hospital and the
doctor worked on him for about a hour. Pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m. on November 27, 1996.
Worst day of our lives and now we need to start coping somehow... someway. Please contact
me if you have any personal support or words of wisdom |

Comments: HELP ME! Bring Awareness to the many African American Babies, who have
died to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) also known as Crib death. Request for Stories,
Poems, and Letters about SIDS experience by African American SIDS Survivors. I just
recently buried my 3 month and 10 day old daughter A'dream, she died Tuesday May 7, 1996.
Cause of death: Sudden Infant Death Syndrome SIDS. I am combining a book of memories of
African American Babies whose lives have ended suddenly to (SIDS). My ultimate goal is to
reach the African Americans who have experience this tragedy. I attend many (SIDS)
functions only to observe a small number of African Americans in attendance. This
situation troubles me, because our babies are not being RECOGNIZED. I know that our babies
are victims of SIDS, also. I am writing a book that will contain the memoris of African
American SIDS Deaths. This book "A'dream Memories" will increase the AWARENESS
of the Tragedies affecting our African American babies, their surviviors and also EDUCATE
the Community about SIDS. Please forward your experiences to me at the following address:

bacterial toxins and SIDS. My work has provided some very interesting data, but we are
chronically under-funded. If anyone reading this web site who is involved in allocating
funds, please remember - SIDS is a multi-faceted syndrome and all areas of research should
be funded, not just physiological studies or what subject is fashionable at any given
time. Researchers like myself want to contribute towards searching for the fundamental
cause(s) of SIDS, but when funding is withdrawn we must move on, this is what is happening
in my case and I will be taking all of that knowledge with me. Don't you think that is a
waste ? |

lost a child yourself. But one can feel the anger and the hate that other people show when
they point their fingers at the parents of the lost child; as if these parents were
murderers hiding behind a false disease. The disease is real. People you got to have
compassion, love and support for these parents not hatred. |

Comments: My five and a half month old grand nephew died of SIDS on September 5th,
1996. He was the first live born child to a loving and caring couple, all children should
be so lucky!! His name was Tanner James Carnell , from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. He was
the first grandchild for my oldest brother Jim and his wife Jean, and he was very much
loved. We donated money for research and or the special beds that are available for
families who have children that may be at a higher risk of SIDS. Twenty five years ago to
the day that Tanner died, one of my older brothers lost his infant baby to SIDS, his name
was Cory Douglas Carnell, he was eleven and a half months old. I will surf these pages
often and try to understand SIDS better. Perhaps I will be better able to be of some
comfort to my nephew and his wife. Thanks for putting together this site. |

children had to be placed on apnea monitors. They are 5 and 12 years old. 1) I would like
to find out how close medical technology is to finding a cure for this disease. 2) What
actually causes this disease in infants. I just want to let those who have experienced
this know, that the pain is great, the lost is large, but it's better to have had and
lost, than never to have had at all. It's been 17 years for me, but I still feel the pain

had night terrors ever since he was a little boy, he is now 36 (He will scream grab things
as large as a hope chest and just sail it across the room. We were not allowed to talk
about our feelings. For the longest time all I thought about was death and dying. I use to
dream on a nightly basis , that my mother died. I would wake up sobbing it felt so real.My
oldest daughter is now 6 ;yet,I still watch her breathe at night. Sometimes just living
life seems so frightening to me,sometimes I just want to live in secluded area so there
will be no worry. Is there any counseling for Adult Survivors of a Siblings death from

Comments: We live in North London. Our son Wiliam died two-and-a-half-weeks ago
aged 7 months. We were always aware of the risk of cot death, and made sure we didn't fall
into any of the risk categories. There was no reason why William should die. The
pathologist's report revealed nothing from the postmortem. The Senior Consultant
Paediatrician at Edgeware Hospital has told us that the cause of death was apnea (stopped
breathing), yet other research says that SIDS is not apnea - that William was already dead
when he stopped breathing. Clearing this up is crucial, because William died during the
day whilst at the childminder's. She is devastated and blames herself for not checking his
breathing more carefully and more often. We don't want to blame her, and we want to
believe that it's nobody's fault. Could the childminder have prevented William dying?
Answering this question would help us in our grief; the mystery of SIDS only adds to the
pain of losing your son. |

Comments: I live in Lawton Oklahoma. I lost my only child on December 31, 1995 to
SIDS. My son was 3 months and 18 days old , and weighed 15 lbs. and 4 oz. when he passed
away. Every day since my son passed away has been a long emotional journey, that has just
begun. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of my son and how much I miss
him. I believe the hardest part to let go of is finding your child lying lifeless in there
bed and there is nothing you as a parent can do for them. You feel so helpless, and
worthless. You as a parent should be able to fix all that is wrong with your child. If any
one wants to talk you can write me at lydajr@sonetcom.com. Thank you for listening. Linda |

through such a tragedy. It makes you feel less singled out by the hands of fate. I lost a
little baby girl to SIDS on March 29, 1995. She was only 2 and a half months old. Her name
was Jasmine Barakat. I've missed her terribly. I have had another baby since losing her,
but its not easy!! ........Jena |

Comments: I have another thing to add to my past comments below. I knew that my
nephew Jordan was going to die at a very young age the first day I held him at the
hospital. Everytime that I held him and looked in his eyes, they just talked to me and
told me that his visit was going to be a short one and his death unexplained. I never told
anyone this because I did not want to worry them, but now I live with the knowlege that
may be I could have done some thing. I do not think of myself as psyhic by any means but I
am wondering why I knew that this was coming. Was it baby Jordan who told me? |

years ago! As I was reading the First Person stories, tears were streaming down my face. I
was especially touched by Debbie Gemmill's entry entitled, "Please Could You Just

baby April's 31st birthday. |

healthy, breastfeed, back sleeping baby of 18 lbs. We are willing to share how we have
made it so far and help if we can. We live in Lake County, California, and do not have a
support group near us. We have one daughter born before our son, another son since (now 11
1/2 mos. old), and another do in June 1997. Love find places that pass on information

Comments: I work in Toronto, Ontario. Tomorrow I am doing a funeral for a three
month old victim of sids. She is the sixth sids child I am burying this year. I keep in
touch with the parent(s) as much as my time permits. I have been relying mainly on
instinct, mostly keeping my mouth shut and my ears and arms open. I have picked up some
useful info from the local sids foundation but still feel there is much to learn so that I
can be more sensitive to these courageous people. Your site will hopefully provide some
useful information. Would appreciate hearing from you. If I can be of any help please do
not hesitate to ask. Later...L. |

Comments: I wrote a paper on SIDs many years ago while conducting research for the
government in other areas. I suspect that sid's is a condition of oxy-iono poisoning
caused by loss of two electrons from the oxygen molecule. It is now called positive ion
poisoning. The majority of the population is sensitive to it, however infants are
especially effected. Anybody find this interesting. mdlee@telusplanet.net Director of
