Comments : Three weeks ago yesterday (October 10) my husband and I lost our 17-week
old son, Joseph Allan, due to incompetent cervix. After 8 years of fertility procedures,
we finally got our miracle only to have him suddenly taken from us. I would love to hear
from anyone who has gone through a similar situation. How do you get through this? My fear
is that since it took 8 years to concieve (through IVF) what are the chances of concieving

Comments : Horten, Norway. We lost our first son, Stian, due to SIDS, 11/18/88. He
was almost 14 months old, and a very healthy and happy little boy. We have got 2 more
children after Stian, a son who is now 7 years old, and a daughter who is 3 months. And
even though they bring a lot of joy into our lives, the fear is still there, and we will
never stop missing Stian. We are members of parents-groups, and it helps to talk to other
parents who have experienced the loss of a child due to SIDS. And we hope that one day,
the questions will be answered, and that we never have to fear SIDS again. |

June 28, 1991. After all this time I still think about her and can't help but wonder at
such a completely un-understandable death. I still search for answers, only to find none.
The pain does subside but never completely leaves my heart.We did go on 6 months later to
get pregnant again and it did help ease the pain. My son is now a healthy, happy 4 year
old, and I appreciate him more than most parents could ever understand.What a JOY he
is!!!! |

Our Daughter Samantha died from SIDS on 29 August this year. She was born on 30 June this
year after 27 weeks gestation. She was not due to be released from hospital until 25
September. She was born at St. Mary's Hospital in Portsmouth - after a few weeks they
became very busy so they transferred her to St. Richards Hospital in Chichester (Withot
Consulting us). Then, St. Richards became busy, and on the 23'rd of August we were told
that she was being discharged on 25 August. We didn't have anything to say about it. She
was not given any monitor and her weight at discharge was 4 pounds. As you can see, she
die a few days later.
Our Son, Benjamin was born prem last year (1995). He died on 4 August last year |

City, Iowa 52242 I had a nephew die of SIDS last Tuesday. He was a healthy 4.5 months
beautiful baby boy. One year ago, my daycare provider who takes care of my two daughters
had lost a 3.5 month boy due to SIDS. These are two innocent children within 18 months
that I know who have died with SIDS. Scarey. The examiner told my sister in law that 1 in
every 500 births will result in death due to SIDS. This comment is very vague. I just want
to know more about this awful syndrome. |

Comments : I sought you out. A good friend of mine lost a beautiful nine month old
baby boy to SIDS 10/11/96. I know he needs support and understanding. My wife and I want
more than anything to help him, but what can we say or do? He has lost the most imortant
part of his life. Whatever we can say seems so...trivial. Help us help him. This is hard
to believe, BUT it's true his wife left him for his best friend the day after the baby's

Reed, On August 21,1996, it was a cord accident. We love him and miss him very much! We

Comments: I am with Hospice of San Luis Obispo County. We are starting a group for
parents dealing with perinatal loss. The group will consist of about 6-10 couples and
begins in a couple of weeks. Do you have any appropriate literature that you could send
me? Our group members are not all dealing with SIDs deaths, most are late term
miscarriages, or still births. However a parent's grief is still profound and grief of
perinatal loss is the same no matter how long the child was alive. So the main info

Comments: I have read that SIDS is sometimes linked with a child's being placed on
their stomach to sleep - that Co2 accumulated in the matreess and the child slowly
suffocates. If this is true, can aerating teh amterss (with a device similar to that which
powers an air-hockey table) be useful? |

to SIDS July 22, 1995. She was 4 months old. She was a healthy, happy baby that never
showed any signs of apnea, always slept on her back, and in a smoke (and drug) free

Comments: I lost my son Gregory at a little over three months old. he died in 1991
Oct 14, It was and still is the worst nightmare Ive ever had to deal with! He would be 5
now and the pain still there. I had 2 healthy boys since greg but the need for my Gregory
is still there. I'm back in school at the age of 27 and decided to do a research paper on
Sids, I am having alot of flashback! But sometimes it helps Because Its kinda putting greg

Comments: 12 Wisler Court Severna Park, MD 21146-3025 I lost one of my twins,
Michael, on April 20, 1994 to SIDS. He was three and a half months old. I have been
actively involved with Dr. Steinschneider, SIDS Research Center in Atlanta, GA., as well
as active with the Maryland SIDS Foundation. His brother Anthony is doing fine and his
older brother Robert, 6, is doing good as well. I wish and hope that the answer(s) to SIDS
are discovered soon. Each year goes by and he is thought of everyday and tragically April
20th happens to also be my birthday.... |
