Comments: So many people have told me about this site and the infanlos list...I
just had to make the time to visit! VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! Personally, I've had many losses,
and close calls as well. In nine pregnancies, with four being multiples (twins 3 times and
then quads), only six children are left for me to raise. One of my daughters, a surviving
twin, was also a *near-miss* SIDS baby...and was on a monitor until 15 months of age! My
singleton survivors did well (as far as monitors, apneas, bradys, etc) and then my three
quads all needed monitors, but only until 6 to 8 months of age. We have three children
affected by an *as yet unknown* dis- order resulting in (among other things) developmental
delays... and there's a possible link to that and the losses of some of the other
children. Geneticists and other specialists are looking into that. In the meantime, life
goes on! Part of that involves me being the list administrator for LostAngels, an email
list for those that have experienced loss within their multiples (pregnancy, birth,
infancy, and onward)... the only criteria is that the set of twins, triplets, quads,
quints, etc, is no longer a complete set. Some have lost all of the set. Some are
surviving twins themselves (tho the focus is most often on those that have lost children).
I've suffered all these types of losses. I came to this site to be of help to those of you
that may be looking for something that relates to loss in multiples, or near-miss SIDS, or
repeated pregnancy losses. My husband and I have been down some difficult roads with all
of these... AND WE HAVE SURVIVED...and live to tell about! :) If you have any questions or
would like to *talk* I'm at nightowl@centuryinter.net anytime! (sorry so long) Andee

Comments: King George, Virginia I was recently involved in a SIDS death. Prior to
this event, my understanding of SIDS was very limited. My first instinct was -- go to
Internet and see what is available. I was pleasantly surprised when I found an abundant
amount of information at your web site. I was able to retrieve information that helped my
daughter-in-law cope with the death. Thank you very much for being there. Now that I know
you are there, I need some additional information. I am interested in the following
information:
Statistics by year by country (i.e., incidents per 1000).
In
countries where health care is limited or below standard, is there any information that
would indicate that children do or do not die from other causes, thereby affecting the
SIDS statistics.
In the United States. statistics by year by age.
In the
United States, statistics by year by state, area or region.
In the United States,
what are the statistics related to parents and day care providers.
In the United
States and related to the day care provider statistics, is there any correlation with an
increase of women in the workplace.
Is there any recent information related to the
sleep position as a cause.
Is there any recent information related to a common gene
composition for SIDS deaths.
It is my understanding that there is a correlation
with smoking mothers. If the mother does not smoke but other family members do, is the
correlation more than normal.
Is there any relationship to other forms of drug
abuse (e.g., alcohol, illegal drugs, prescription drugs). This thing really has my
curiosity level at its peak. If my request is too much, please let me know. Thanks, |

P.J's 1st birthday. Losing my son to SIDS was not the hardest issue that i had to

29,1996 six days after she was born. She was diagnosed with an enlarged heart that was
caused by a fistula that connected the coronary sinus with the coronary artery. The heart
surgeon tied off the fistula and things looked good for two days. But a clot developed at
the site of the fistula and Christine went into cardiac arrest. We are pregnant again and
we hope and pray we can bring this one home. The letters and poems have served to stir up
some emotions we thought we had gotten over. This a good thing. It helps us to remember

finding the information I am getting to be very helpful, but there is not much on Canadian
stats. My mailing address is Bx.6056 High River,A.B. Canada T1V 1P7.I would like to send my
prayers out to anyone who has suffered such a loss, it can't be easy to deal with. I will

can cut them loose, but the monitor sure helps you sleep soundly through the night. |

Comments: I think what you guys are doing is great!! You have helped
so many people. You deserve an award.
You are both so unselfish. You donate so much time to the
SIDSnet, and then you offer your address so that people can
write to you with questions or problems. And you are always
available to provide advice and support!
Your site is GREAT!!! It offers the more information than any
place else I have ever seen. And the info is always up to date,
so that people know they are reading the very latest info
available. Even our public library doesn't provide as much
relevant and up to date info as your site does.
Three cheers to you!!! |
