years ago his name was Zachary and he died when he was only a month and four days old. I
still miss him very much each day but time goes on and the pain becomes not so unbearable.
I have read the poems on your First Page and cried along with many other parents out there
. I too wrote poems to help deal with my son's death. I think you are doing a great
service to parent's and families of SIDS babies by providing a place for all of us to vent
our feelings and recieve correct information about SIDS. Keep up the good work and I would
enjoy hearing from anyone out there who just wants to talk I hope one day to write a book
about my experience with losing a baby to SIDS and the whole journey of fighting to hold
on after this tragedyoccurs. My heart and prayers go out to all of you. |

Comments: I live in Ontario, Canada. My daughter Taylor is 9 1/2 weeks old now. At
two weeks old, we were told that she had a heart murmour. The specialist told us that
Taylor had Ventrical Membreeus Ceptal Defect ( a small hole in the heart). I almost died.
He told us that it was nothing to worry about. He said that her heart was already mending
itself. Regardless, I thank her guardian angels that she is alright but I am so paranoid.
My partner and I do not smoke. We have taken all the precautions that we have read about.
Taylor is now sleeping in her own room. I have the monitor beside me. I am breast-feeding
her. She seems healthy and happy. I wish in all honasty that I wasn't so scared of SIDS.
It is all I think about. I am scared to death. My heart goes out to all that have lost. I
am 23 and live a good life, but I could not live without my daughter. I pray that they
find a cure, or at least a cause. I need sleep, but I don't beleive that I'll sleep well
until Taylor is out of the danger zone. My heart goes out to all. It felt good to get this
off my chest. Thanks. |

Comments: Your site has helped me talk with people who have shared a similar
situation. On April 23, 1997 My son, Connor, was stillborn I would like to talk with other
parents who have lost a child to stillbirth. I was 40 1/2 weeks pregnant when Connor died.
I am dealing with his death one day at a time, but as many of you know firsthand, having a
child die is the absolute worst thing that could ever happen to you. My sister was
pregnant at the same time I was. My daughter who is three doesn't understand why Aunt
Tammy's baby is here and ours is not. I can't say I understand either. I have had six
pregnancies. One blighted ovum (I had a D&C in the 14th week to prevent hemmorraging),
two misscarriages (8weeks and 5 weeks) , one living child, and my son who was born and
died in April 1997. My husband want more children badly, but we fear another outcome like
Connor's. We have been through alot. I welcome any and all comments, words of
encouragements, questions, etc. I need to talk to other parents right now. I feel it is
the only consolation I will get right now, to know that I am not alone. Please e-mail me
at woody@iah.com I look forward to hearing from you. |

Comments: if i never knew you, i'd be safe, yet half as real, never knowing that i
could feel a love so strong and true. and i'm so grateful to you, i'd have lived my whole
life through, lost forever if i never knew you. i thought our love would be so beautiful,
somehow we'd make the whole world right, i never knew that fear and hurt could be so
strong and that you would slip away in the night but still my heart is saying we were
right. and if i never knew you, i'd have lived my whole life through, empty as the sky,
never knowing why, lost forever, if i never knew you.... |

Comments: Hi. I'm from Bathurst in Australia. My wife co-owns a Baby Shop in
Bathurst called "Little Peepers" and we sell quite a lot of Nursery Furniture
and deal a lot with people concerned about sids. It's great that we can log on to sites
like yours as it proves invaluable to us & we can pass information on as well. Either
by printing out information on a specific topic or telling these ones how to access your
web site. Many thanks once again. Michael |

Comments: I am from Sibu,Sarawak, Malaysia. This is a great HP for info on SIDS. My
country men and women have been worrying so much this few weeks as COXSACKIE VIRUS B has
striked. The few has lost their love ones. Even our government were worried. Everyone is
asking "Where this virus come from? " Eventhough this HP do not give the answer
to that question. But at least now I know what is COXSACKIE VIRUS. This HP surely will
benefit more people in the years to come. Keep up the excellent and honourable work. Thank
you. |

I get the address i'll send it thorugh. I know you may be busy, but there is a story i'd
like you to read on it. It's personal and is slightly affected by poetic license. I'm a
uni student in australia and will link my new page to you. I think this is excellent and I
hope you keep up the good work. It is so important to inform people and that's exactly
what you're doing. Thanks. Sarah. |

Comments: We are located in Dallas, Texas. We are searching for information about
SIDS. We were told by the Dallas County Medical Examiner that SIDS was determined to be
the cause of death, but there were other mitigating circumstances surrounding our son's
death including conflicting information from the emergency room physician and the
care-giver. The care-giver reported laying our 5 month old down with a bottle unattended
and not checking on him for over two hours. When she checked on him, she reported that he
had a blanket over his face and removing it revealed saliva and vomit on his face. He was
still concious at this point and not breathing. She stated that his eyes opened but he was
limp. She reported that she attempted to perform artificial respiration and that the
paramedics could not revive him prior to transport. She also stated that they mentioned
finding a brakial? (please excuse my spelling) heartbeat. I am not aware if there was ever
an examination of the area and there was definately not an interview to get family history
on my wife and I. The medical examiner stated that there was not any vomit found in the
lungs and concluded that because of this he did not suffocate on vomit and further
concluded it was SIDS because there was no other explanation. I believe that the saliva
and vomit caused the blanket to seal over his face preventing him asperating any vomit
into his lungs. We feel this was deamed to be SIDS to prevent any further issue in this
matter with the care-giver. She had ten children in her care at the time, four of them
infants. We were unaware of this until it was too late. This is not allowed for a state
licensed care-giver in Texas, but it is not illeagal. There are only 4 state investigators
to cover over 30 counties and they only issue warnings and rarely retract licenses. The
only satisfaction we recieved was appearing on CBS for a special on child care and
irresponsible care-givers. We just can't see any way that this could have been a case of
SIDS from the information we have already recieved. We are wondering if there are many
more cases like ours and if a lot of the reported SIDS cases are just undetermined cause
of death. In other words, if there is no explaination for SIDS then how is it determined,
or is it just a catch- all term to explain the unexplainable? Any comments or information
from lay people or medical professionals would be greatly appreciated. Michael Anthony
Matisi died on April 15, 1994. |

Comments: Hello from Plano, Texas. I have a 10 month old little girl and I have
been visiting your website scince she was born. I breastfed and co-sleep and so far so
good. I realize that the recommendations to prevent SIDS are only that recommendations but
NO PROMISES, NO ANSWERS. I live in fear and am so saddened for all the babies lost to this
MYSTERY! I want to do something about this! I can't believe all the research that goes to
support cancer and AIDS but what about these poor little ones who never get a chance at
all! I am trying to write 2 books of which the sales of these will support RESEARCH FOR
SIDS! I previously read on here that there are labs and research teams CLOSE TO FINDING
ANSWERS but with the lack of funding their hands are tied. I NEED YOUR HELP moms and
dads...i am colecting stories for a book. Detailed stories of conception, pregnancy,
childbirth and becoming a parent...i have in mind essays about 1-3 pages in lenghth. If
you want to share I would totally appreciate it. E-mail me with questions or mail
essays/tributes to LITTLE BIRD ENTERPRISES PO BOX 868101 PLANO, TEXAS 75086 I have other
ideas of organizing a walk-a thon or a stroller-a-thon...raising money to fund sids
research. i would appreciate any advice from anyone who has ever planned such an event .
My dream and goal in life is to be a part (if even a small one) of finding a cure for this
mysterious baby stealer of a syndrome. ***michelle J. |

Comments: My manager's 6 week infant just passed away today of SIDS, and I was
wanting to get more info. on this. Did a net search and landed in here. This is got to be
the saddest thing - to have a child snatched away from you so soon, and to know that there
was almost nothing that could have been done to prevent it. In this case, the mother had
just returned to work the same day, and must be going through a terrible time I'm sure.
Please keep up your good efforts. God Bless! |

Comments: We are in Houston,TX with a seven month old baby girl named Nicole. She
has monitered since the day she was born and has severe acid reflux. We had it under
control but it has started to cause problems again. We have had several true alarms and
ended up in the hospital before. Our hearts go out to those who have lost their little
angels. I am having a hard time dealing with my fear. Any help would be greatly
appreciated from parents who are familiar with these problems. Thank you. |

Comments: I lost my first pregnancy six weeks ago today. It is still very
emotionally traumatic, so I thought I'd check out the Internet to see if there were others
going through a similar experience, and look for medical information. I'm amazed how
prevalant this problem is; I don't feel quite as alone now. |

Comments: I am from Mid-Missouri. My losses were not SIDS, but miscarriages and
there have been a few. However, I have six very healthy children. I noticed on your
"How did you find us?" question that there is a Pregnancy and Infant loss Web
page. How do I find it? I read the grief article on ten years later. It has been 12 years
since the first miscarriage and six since the last. I can relate to all of the feelings
expressed. I often wish that I had had the opportunity to have held my children in my arms
just one time. |
