Two years ago, Reny Missos, a SIDS Mom since 1991, set out to remember a SIDS mom on Mother's Day with a card. "I wanted a 'Thinking of you on this Difficult Mother's Day' card. After much running around, I realized that such a card does not exist. The more I thought about it, I realized that there is a need for such a card. Not only for SIDS moms. Mothers lose their precious children to car accidents and violent crime every day. I imagine Mother's Day is no easier for these moms. Because no appropriate card exists, some moms would probably really feel forgotten on this holiday. I know I feel that some have forgotten my son, and this really hurts, as most of you know." Reny set out to make this card a reality. Two years later, the card was available to
the public. You can read about her successful efforts at: Please show your appreciation by e-mailing thanks to Reny. Her e-mail address can be

Once again, we need your active participation to secure full funding for SIDS programs and priorities. This year, the House and Senate are faced with the difficult task of adequately funding domestic programs under severe budget caps created by the 1997 Balanced Budget Act. These caps jeopardize the funding source for programs throughout the public health sector. Your help is needed to push Congress to raise the budget caps and provide adequate funding and support for all public health related programs at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)." - Steve Scully, Chairman, SIDS Alliance Public Policy Committee Learn more about how you can help.
