The Choice

The choice, I've been told, is to put away your memory in a part
of my heart so that I can live each day for the new life I have coming
soon.

The choice, I've been told, is to realize that you are never going to be
here, and to try to "cross the line" or surrender to my grief and
unhappiness.

The choice, I've been told, is to go on living, maybe never being the
same person that I once was, but to decide when to stop the endless pain
of your loss.

The choice, however, was never given to me, so I live my life with a
hole in my heart and an emptiness in my soul.

The choice, I know, would be easy, but I am so afraid to lose your
memory that I just can't make that choice just yet.
