Isaac's Poem

This poem was written by my best friend in memory of my precious nephew

Yesterday

Yesterday I got out of bed,
My head a little low.
I got ready for my job,
And its off to work I go.
Yesterday I came home,
My day was half way done.
Yesterday I gave a bath
To my lovely infant son.
Yesterday I had children,
Yesterday is gone.
Yesterday came and went,
Along with my infant son.
How can I get past Yesterday?
How can I rewind time?
How can I regain the warmth
When my infant son was mine?
How can I not feel cheated?
How can I learn not to cry?
When I think of my infant son
And always wonder "Why?"
I am not alone in my heartbreak,
I still have my daughter.
But yesterday she was a sister
With an infant brother.
I can tell her he's in Heaven
With Grandma and Jesus too.
And with her innocent eyes
She understands what to do.
I will pray as time goes on
That I can find my way
But will always remember in my heart
When I had Yesterday.
