Lucas Shining Star
A poem for Lucas Fox,
by his Dad, Gervais Fox.

I search, each night
for sparks to keep
of your shining self
in the gloam of sleep.
I find, each night,
where you have been
in your mother's tears
and your sister's dreams.
In my father's arms I held
your father's son.
Bereft, I wonder, where
have you gone?
I see, down time's line
your young man's hands,
so like mine -- just
new-worked strands.
Now your light is far
and my heart is bled.
All our lives tangle
without your thread.
