When a baby's heart stops beating...
the house ceases to exist,
pale the floors and walls fold up
and flow like a dark river
for miles across the land.
Everything sinks down deep.
No shallow end holds forth.
No light comes and what cries
is not a voice, but a trembling
in the mouth of the one
who found her
and called like a stone.
