My Baby Brother

Kira was 5 years old when her brother,Travis Adam, died; she is now almost 15 years old. This story was written by Kira when she was 8. Kira has a new brother to tease and pick on. His name is Adam Michael (now 7 years old) and he arrived home from Korea in December 1989 at the age of 5 months.

My brother's name was Travis Adam.

When he was born, I liked to go up to the hospital to see him.

When he came home from the hospital, he had on the blanket my grandma made for him.

Then a couple weeks later he started to smile.

When he was at the babysitters taking a nap, he did not wake up,

so she called my dad.

They took him to the hospital.

Then my mom and dad found out that Travis had SIDS.

Then they drove to the school and picked me up at nap time,

and I said why did you pick me up this early.

My mom and dad just sat there.

Then my mom finally said that Travis died, and then I started to cry.

Then a couple weeks later I did not cry that much.

I wonder what it would have been like if he was still living.

I miss him a lot.
