Jaytecia
by Yasheta Wilhelmina McDaniel
"I like to write poems ... this is a true story. My poems are reflections that I
see through the painful eyes of victims. My boyfriend's daughter and my cousin's daughter
died as a result of SIDS. I would also like to make my e-mail address accessible to anyone that wants
to just share their thoughts with me."

Jaytecia was born beautiful and healthy
a 6 weeks old queen with curly black hair,
dark brown eyes, ten fingers and toes
all just the right size.
A gift from God
a blessing of love
a baby to hold
a soul to love
She entered our hearts just as free as the wind,
but she left us broken hearts to amend.
How could he take her
what did I do wrong
I hear heaven is a wondrous place,
but here is where she belongs.
She made life worth living and
loving and giving and giving to love my precious dove.
I miss her so much tears flow from my eyes.
But I find comfort in knowing that she soars through the skies.
For I see her in me
and I see her in love
I see her in everyone that she loved.
She touched us all and on that unforgettable day
I had to open my arms as they took her away
dear God hear my prayer
oh God hear my plea
what did she do that was wrong
you should have taken me.
A daughter a mother I saw it all in her eyes,
what is a mother to do when her sweet baby dies?
