SIDS in car seats

There have been studies which suggest that preterm infants have more apneas and lower oxygen levels when buckled into car seats. Whether or not this increases their risk for SIDS is not certain. I am not aware of similar studies in term infants. Certainly some babies can die in car seats, however, I am not aware of any studies which indicate that this is a particularly good or bad position for otherwise healthy babies.
